99. A Pheasant walk (11 miles)

A Pheasant Walk starting at Maiden Bradley,Wiltshire,So called as first part of walk through Little and Great Bradley Woods there were 100s of pheasants.




Oak tree on its last 300 years

 Most of walk through the Witham Park Woods Fir,Beech 
and some oak well marked paths with no views !

From Woods headed towards Kilmington for some tricky navigation with no or lost footpath ! once on road by church headed towards Long Knoll Main Objective 288m or 944ft and 3rd highest hill in Wiltshire.

 Long Knoll good name as  Knoll means a small rounded hill,mound or hillock ,it was rising from the surrounding flat fields, a steep climb,goodish views from top . you can see Maiden Bradley from top and homeward route .

My 14th trig of the year!!









 Little knoll no access to this one.


 Somerset Arms Remember as a kids trips to weymouth with coaches stopping at his pub,things were different 30 years ago !

98.Lavender Hill (11.3 miles)

Missed the lavender season :( August good 2015 return ! walk was marked as 5/10 because no real highlights,Orchardleigh Lake,Estate Hidden totally ! small glimpse of lake and house ,Shame.
Lots of stiles and smallish fields some with Cows and Bulls in but all well behaved,
Although Gel decided didn't like the look of one lot so took detour and got STUNG ! lol ,not by cow a wasp .doh !

A Lovely Walk with Rolling hills great views on a clear day, ours was a very misty but warm day.
                                         Bird song to accompany you as you climb the easy gradients to sumits all 1000ft and a bit of them!
Red Deer skulking in the trees, Mushrooms on every path .




A must return on clear day.Watch this space for another Walk in the Quantocks Soon !!

Walk would have scored higher but misty views knocked a point off !!

96.Trowbridge Round (well more Triangular) 10.3 miles

Parking @BA151UJ Bradford on Avon

A Walk Around Trowbridge  Starting from Bradford on Avon and following the Kennet and Avon Canal.Its Actually 3.26 miles along the canal with Bridges and the Canal to keep you company.Once you turn off  at Whaddon lane we follow a very easy Road and Byway graveled .At end turn right on to Green Lane .
Then it all went wrong as the new estate at Paxton is being built no Footpaths, Signs or diversions in Place ,also a useless security guard said he started the day before wouldn't let us cross the 10th of a mile to Footpath !!!! so decided to return across Hilperton to Canal and retrace footsteps along Canal to Home .

And now for something completely different Too !

2nd Canoe trip Even closer to home Starting at Saltford Shallows easy parking and easy put in.
Went downstream first to The Lock keeper pub and weir then back up stream towards Bath,Not sure why !?
Boats & fisherman on this one so keep on the Right side.
Heading up past The Current Railway on one side and old,Bristol to Bath Cycle Route on Other.
Passing Fields and more fields.Then you hit Newbridge More Boats and then a difficult Lock with steep sides ,Strong Arms needed back in after lock past Pc World and Baths Many Students Blocks the Metal sides to river Starts,to prevent flooding ,doesn't look very nice .Under many bridges then Bath new Riverside development big blocks of ....Flats.Winding round eventuly to Pulteney Weir a brief stop on weir island and return.Around 13 miles!!!

And now for something completely different !

Thought as our canoe never gets used we'd swap the walking for a bit of exploring closer to home.
 1st trip starting at Batheaston, Parking on High st as 3hr limit on car park but ok to put canoe in there. Heading up stream its completely rural with the noise of the traffic soon disappearing.Kingfishers,Herons flying past typical ! Didn't trust not going in so didn't take it, Iphone was camera.With no other Boats on River Its very nice,we headed on up to Warleigh Weir decided to Portage through field and put in on top weir,then on up to Limpley Stoke Stopping at the weir.also went a little way up Midford Brook bit Shallow maybe Winter Paddle.Returned back .

A Great Day And Recommended Trip !  Here some nice pictures and a map.
