155.Keevil airfield what airfield ?

  6/10

Parking @ Hargreaves Road. Trowbridge BA14 7UP

Its been a while for a walk with Andy in fact a month !! But i've been out and about check my other website for where NSLBIRDING But on to today's walk its been in my walk ideals archive for some time , i know why ! Starting Trowbridge was meant to take in Keevil Airfield. But that's later. First after navigating out of the growing housing estates in Trowbridge we come to the Railway which is the Wessex Main Line take care crossing !

Good views along the track mainly small train so no Hst trains

After following along side tracks and through this bloody corn field which seem to go on for ages wet,6ft tall and almost lost Andy a few times, found him again, shame !

Cross the little River Bliss and then along busy West Ashton road, careful ! At top and junction of A350 the first and almost only view of the day looking back we see Trowbridge.

After a couple of fields we come to the Church of St John The Evangelist, at West Ashton

Pretty Flowers East Town, may not be in bloom we you do walk !
A highlight

Another Church this one is St. Mary's Steeple Ashton, don't get many visitors cows checking us out but well behaved !

The next pictures should have been of Keevil Airfield..... but badly marked or non existence footpaths kept us away. Keevil Airfield is used occasionally for British Army and RAF exercises. The airfield is still frequently used by the RAF for training purposes such as air drops and parachuting,
Since 1992 it has been home to the Bannerdown Gliding Club.
But view below is our dinner stop looking towards Hilperton,Trowbridge.

Bratton and White Horse hill but no view of horse today.

Next Stourton Lake, fishing there is by day ticket and carp up to ....3lb !

Biss Meadows Country Park complete with pylons i'm sure it's better on other side but this was our view. Birds here Barn Owl,Hobby and Saw a Picture of Red Kite and a Muntjac Deer ! Not much today.

After leaving the Park behind we enter Trowbridge and the housing estates of which it looks like more on the way.

Some great looking Grafitti painted for the opening of Biss Country Park, missed the plaque.

So the end a misty day grey and lots of fields, oh yeah and no Airfield but a 5 for turning up and extra point for the graffiti !
Next walk gonna be a cracker check back soon !!

That's all for now .
