126. Urchfont To Larkhill Perimeter (Part 1) (9.4 Miles)

Parking @ High St Urchfont Wiltshire-SN10 4QL



This the First Walk around the Larkhill Range, Wiltshire starting at Urchfont.
Strange name you may say we did wondering on the origins, Maybe coming from Church & Fontain, theres been over a hundred variations over the years locals apparently pronounce Urchfont Ushant ? Wiki

Starting at the Village pond Greylag/dosmestic and white runner type ducks 


After a few fields and very well maintained sty's 
we cross the Railway line ,Remember don't dilly dally !


This one massive Bull !


This Welsh chap certainly knew how to charm these sheep !


We Came to a small pig farm with pigs roaming about yard 
and one devil pig locked away who made someone jump !!


Are first view of the Perimeter Path well the none official what you can walk bit. 
whole path is 31 miles,took about half an hour to reach tree on skyline.

Eastcote village home of Charles Ingram, the man who was convicted of cheating his way to winning the top prize of Who Wants to Be a Millionaire? in September 2001.


 Now we are on Perimeter path looking back to where we were 30 mins earlier.


The cross commemorates jager Dirk Knoffel of 3 Company 313 Fallshirmjager Battalion - 
a Parachute unit of the German Luflande Brigade 
who was killed in an anti-tank vehicle that rolled over .


Perimeter Path proper out of bounds to left.


Devizes New White horse ,Been there !


Alton Barnes White Horse ,Cherhill tower can also be seen.


Weather getting cloudy, now threat of rain imminent !


Redhorn Hill look out post 



Redhorn Hill notice board did't see much wildlife 1 Chalkhill blue butterfly,Linnet couple of Buzzards ,Now its raining !


Farmers were haverter as fast as they could waterproofs on now 1 mile left.


Back to van and wet but a decent walk Sunshine always better !
