119.Ammerdown -Buckland Dinham (9.30. miles)

Parking @ BA3 5UG at crossroads




This walk starts at the small car park on crossroads of A366 amd A362 .we've seen Ammerdown Column on many walks and wondered about it ,so about time we walked it !

St Marys At Hemington


Plenty of bird life about These Helmeted Guinea foul made a bit of of din ! 
Also saw Red Kite,Buzzard and Raven.


Hardington Hill Maybe ?



Many Many Cow's and Bulls on this walk 2 times diversions were required :(


Big Bull,Better behind bars !


Pretty Lanes and no cars


Still more Green Green Fields


View out towards Frome,With Stone in shoe.


Above picture shows Shorts LOL .Mistake me thinks ,look at footpath !!


And finally Ammerdown Column !


Poppy fields surround column


In 1853 John Twyford Jolliffe & Thomas Robert Jolliffe, the children of the builder of the house, Thomas Samuel Jolliffe, built a 150-foot (46 m) high column, known as the Ammerdown Park Column, Ammerdown Lighthouse or the Jolliffe Column. It was a near replica of Eddystone Lighthouse with a glass dome or viewing lantern which could be illuminated.  wiki

Another detour 30 young bullocks forced us in woods ,sound a bit wrong that !! but i was fine andy got got stung some more ,Shorts !
